ABOUT

“4 Your Eyez Only” is a personal mixed media project exploring the eye as both a symbol and sensory gateway. The informal title reflects the intimate nature of this study, focusing on sight and perception. Inspired by John Berger’s “Seeing comes before words,” the project examines how we interpret and assign meaning to what we see, using abstract forms and textures to explore the complexities of vision beyond function.

The CHALLENGE

Seeing is often reduced to a biological process, but our eyes do morethey interpret, feel, and connect. In a world flooded with visual input, the subtleties of how we perceive and internalize our surroundings are rarely explored on a personal level, creating a disconnect between sight and its emotional impact.

Layered abstract portrait with expressive eyes sketched over a textured canvas. The composition merges raw linework and saturated colors—reds, blues, yellows—blurring identity and emotion into a chaotic yet intentional human mosaic. A study in multiplicity, memory, and inner vision.

Soft focus abstract in blue tones with organic dark blotches and vertical wave-like texture. Evokes a dreamlike underwater feeling or memory fragment suspended in motion. Minimalist, sensory, and open to interpretation—blurring the line between presence and absence.

Bold red abstract form resembling two connected organic shapes, evoking cellular life or primitive masks. Set against a stark white background with minimal texture, the work feels raw, primal, and symbolic—suggesting identity, duality, or ancestral memory.

CD artwork featuring fragmented, abstract portraits in muted tones of teal, grey, and off-white. The layout includes a printed disc, a folded cover, and liner notes—each layered with collaged faces and textured brushwork. The overall mood is introspective and cinematic, evoking memory, identity, and visual storytelling.

A small box holding two textured paper fragments—one dyed with gradients of blue, pink, and gold, the other dark and marbled—carefully placed on soft fabric. The composition feels intimate and archival, as if preserving remnants of memory, emotion, and tactile history.

A mixed media artwork wrapped in bubble wrap, partially obscuring abstract black ink and graphite scribbles over a textured canvas. Hints of muted yellow and a small eye icon in the corner emerge through the protective layer, all placed against a striking orange background. The piece speaks to preservation, fragility, and layers of perception.

Solution

4 Your Eyez Only bridges this gap by transforming a fascination with the eye into a dynamic mixed media exploration. Through abstract representations and texture, the project invites viewers to experience sight as a personal journey, encouraging reflection on the unspoken stories our eyes carry. By blending the tactile and visual, it turns seeing into an intimate, multi-sensory narrative.
